"Compassion, internal piece, yada yada. It's all good and it all makes sense. Why learn the details? I get it already. I'm moral ok. Woohoo for world peace." "Stop stressing. You know you're just going to be a corpse someday." "The world may all of a sudden look sucky, but we are so awesome that things just turn out alright for us, nomatter how grim the outcome looks. Why? Because we are just so awesome that we can manage to get through anything! Nothing can beat us." "You gotta go around slapping Life in the face!" ~Quotes
I wonder what's in a book while its closed. Oh, I know it's full of letters printed on paper, but all the same, something must be happening, because as soon as I open it, there's a whole story with people I don't know yet and all kinds of adventures and deeds and battles. And sometimes there are storms at sea, or it takes you to strange cities and countries. All those things are somehow shut up in a book. Of course you have to read it to find out. But it's already there, that's the funny thing. I just wish I knew how it could be. Things just repeat. Day and night, summer and winter. The world is empty and aimless. Everything circles around. Whatever starts up must pass away, whatever is born must die. It all cancels out, the good and bad, beautiful and ugly. Everything's empty. Nothing is real. Nothing matters. What are you creatures of Fantastica? Dreams, poetic inventions, characters in a neverending story. With Luck, my boy. With luck! Every real story is a Neverending Story. ~But that's another story and shall be told another time~ ~ John Doe: It's more comfortable for you to label me as insane. David Mills: It's VERY comfortable. ~John Doe: We see a deadly sin on every street corner, in every home, and we tolerate it. We tolerate it because it's common, it's trival. We tolerate it morning, noon, and night. Well, not anymore. I'm setting the example. And what I've done is going to be puzzled over, and studied, and followed... forever. ~Dr. Beardsley: He's experienced about as much pain and suffering as anyone I've encountered, give or take, and he still has Hell to look forward to. ~David Mills: He's a nut-bag! Just because the fucker's got a library card doesn't make him Yoda! ~John Doe: Wanting people to listen, you can't just tap them on the shoulder anymore. You have to hit them with a sledgehammer, and then you'll notice you've got their strict attention. ~Detective William Somerset: If we catch John Doe and he turns out to be the devil, I mean if he's Satan himself, that might live up to our expectations, but he's not the devil. He's just a man. Lecter "Then how did you catch me, Will?" Will "You had disadvantages." Lecter "What disadvantages?" Will "Passion. And you're insane." "Dolarhyde felt that Lecter knew that unreality of the people who die to help you in these things- understood that they are not flesh, but light and air and color and quick sounds quickly ended when you change them. Like balloons of color bursting. That they are more important for the changing, more important than the lives they scrabble after, pleading." Cats don't look ahead and contemplate the future, don't contemplate their lives with doubt and uncertainty. They live only for the present; they know exactly what they want and they aren't afraid to take it. I wish... I wish I was that cat! (Ayesha!) Flower and bird, two species never meant to mate. Yet at length the rose overcame her fear and from that single, forbidden union was born the red rose that Allah never intended the world to know. I was twenty years old and in full possession of my faculties and I knew there was no such thing as dragons. And yet I had only to listen and they would exist in his voice; the dream would become reality the moment I abandoned my disbelief and I would not return to this world until he chose to bring me back. | |||||
